Considering the OPACITY of the final coloured paint, the choice of a tinting
system is very important. Indeed, you will see watching our confidential study
that there is some important difference in the opacity level from one Tinting
System to the other.
With the traditional Glycol based universal tinting systems, you have two choice:
either a Tinting System with 3 to 5 bases (White, Medium, Deep, Extradeep, Deep
and Transparent) or a Tinting system with the same 3 to 5, plus some coloured
ones (yellow, Green, Blue, Red
up to 12).
Polymers paints : In the first case, with 3 to 5 "white bases",
due to the low compatibility of the traditional glycol based universal colorants
(no more than 6% for having no modifications of the paint characteristics),
it is impossible to obtain a good opacity in 2 coats for difficult standard
dark shades such as yellow RAL 1021, RAL 1023 or Red RAL 3003, RAL 3002.
In the second case, with the 5 white bases plus the coloured ones, you will
manage to obtain good opacity using those coloured bases, but you have to consider
that you will need to manufacture those coloured bases (the manufacturing and
the calibration processes are as long and as difficult as for colorants), then
your retailers will be obliged to keep all the 5 to 10 bases in their stock
for each one of the paint qualities you will include in the tinting system (for
example today one of have customer has 25 products formulated in 3 bases for
the Tinting system, it would have been impossible if he had to use 5 to 1à
bases for each ones of his products).
Normally all the traditional Tinting Systems present universal colorants with
a low compatibility with the paint due to their glycol based formulation. The
addition of these colorants in the paints can often modify the DRYING TIME (for
alkyd gloss paint) and the GLOSS ASPECT.
In our COLORIS GCC colorants you have to know that, first we don't use any glycol
or any hydrophilic agents. But more than this, in the formulation of our colorants
we use specific polymers paints we have developed and patented world-wide,
and which allow, once mixed in the paints to obtain a very good quality of the
paints. Once the viscosity adjusted in the bases, our colorants have absolutely
no influence on the physico-chemicals characteristics of any decorative paints.
We can even obtain better resistance of the paint thanks to acrylic composition
of our polymers paints.
